World-class research, innovation and patient care. Head and neck cancer is a devastating disease and is a major healthcare problem in urban areas of Cheshire and Merseyside, in particular Liverpool.

This Centre is linked to the cancer disease research priority.

Liverpool Health Partners are working alongside The University of Liverpool, Merseyside Head and Neck Oncology Research Group and NHS Foundation Trusts to address the high rate of head and neck cancers in the region.

Liverpool Head and Neck Centre combines the strengths of the clinical units and research groups in order to urgently address the local healthcare needs. The centre has developed a world-class programme of translational research directed at enhancing the quality and safety of patient care. One of the main aims of the Liverpool Head and Neck Centre is to have a global impact and actively encourage  and facilitate the academic development of other clinical subspecialty areas. The Centre director is Professor Terry Jones.
