Liverpool’s response to COVID-19 – The third STOP COVID webinar

Liverpool Health Partners (LHP) hosted the third Liverpool STOP COVID webinar on Friday 24 July 2020.

The webinar was chaired by William Hope, Centre of Excellence for Infectious Disease Research (CEIDR), who provided an update on the STOP COVID system in Liverpool.

We were joined by Gerry Davies, Infectious Diseases Specialty Lead for NIHR North West Coast Clinical Research Network (NWC CRN) on the COVID-19 Urgent Public Health Research Response in the region. Gerry’s presentation included reference to the challenge and response to COVID19 in the region, including successes and lessons learned.

Lucy Frith provided an update from the NIHR Applied Research Collaborative for the North West Coast (ARC NWC) on their work in response to COVID19, including published findings on regional inequalities and the impact of the pandemic.

Sue Dowling, Research Matron for NIHR NWC CRN, presented on the participant perspective concerning the COVID19 Vaccine Trial in UK healthy adults, which is led by Andrew Pollard of the Oxford Vaccine Group, supported by Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.  Sue was joined by a participant in the vaccine trial, who discussed their experience and lessons to be learned for the future.
