Successful addition to Acute Oncology Series

LHP’s NWC Oncology Education Group held a recent workshop entitled Dilemmas in Urgent Cancer Care following on from their successful Acute Oncology days.

The study day explored frequently forgotten themes designed to equip specialist clinicians and clinical specialist nurses with in-depth knowledge and skills to inform critical decision-making for complex acute oncology patients.

Talks covered the challenges of communicating risk and uncertainty in the acute oncology setting; exploring the benefits & burdens of surgical interventions in the acute oncology patient and how to decide on the appropriateness of critical interventions used.

In the afternoon there was a short session covering communication skills needed in these difficult conversations.

The feedback was outstanding from all delegates, attending from Trusts all over the region and even from Birmingham. 100% of attendees felt the outcomes of the event had been achieved and 100% were satisfied with the event.

Delegates commented: “All speakers were passionate and knew their subject matter. Good learning environment. Good opportunity for discussions” and “Really useful & clinically relevant. Thank you.”

The event will be delivered again in Spring next year so keep an eye out for details!
