UPDATE

Funding for PhD studentships

Across the University there is currently a restriction on matched funding of PhD studentships. Each Faculty will have its own guidance on this. Please liaise directly with senior colleagues within your Departmental / Institute / School for specific details.

In view of this uncertainty, applications will be accepted even if confirmation of matched funding is not finalised by the deadline of submission: 9am, Monday 12th October 2020. However, all applications that do not have confirmed matched funding must send details in writing before the Hugh Greenwood Awarding Panel meets, namely by close of play on 7th December 2020.

Please note: All applications will still need the approval and signature of the School/ Institute Executive Dean at the time of submission in order to be considered eligible.

The Faculty of HLS have confirmed that they will provide matched funding for a very limited number of the very highest quality and strategically aligned applications to Round 3 of the Hugh Greenwood Legacy Fund PhD Studentship stream. Applications will be subject to the standard stringent review process and final decisions made by the Hugh Greenwood Awarding Panel in collaboration with Senior HLS colleagues, based on funding available at the time. You will need to state that you have applied to your Institute / Faculty for matched funding but await confirmation.
