JRO Research sponsorship

Get support with research sponsorship

WHAT IS SPONSORSHIP?

All clinical research studies involving NHS patients, their tissue or data must have a sponsor to comply with regulations.

The Sponsor is the organisation that takes the ultimate responsibility for all the aspects of the study, from the initiation to the financing of the associated research costs. The sponsor takes responsibility for ensuring the study meets design, management, and reporting standards.

SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE

The JRO convenes the Sponsorship committee to review, approve or decline sponsorship for new studies taking place across our partner organisations.  The membership of the committee includes academic, NHS and professional staff from our partner organisations.

The committee provides advice and support to investigators and ensures there is learning in the process. There are two separate avenues for review depending on the research study being interventional or non-interventional; two separate groups review these.

The Sponsorship committee meets monthly and provides feedback to investigators as part of the process.

WHAT SHOULD I INCLUDE WITH MY SPONSORSHIP APPLICATION?

There is a template registration form below for completion and submission to the team. Following review of the registration by the sponsorship team, the study will then be submitted to the corresponding committee for their review.

You can contact the Sponsorship team by email sponsor@liv.ac.uk or by phone on 0151 795 1780.
