LHP appoints new interim Managing Director

We are delighted to announce the appointment of our Interim Managing Director

Liverpool Health Partners (LHP) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Christine Cornforth as Interim Managing Director.

Christine, who will succeed Dr Séamus O’Neill in early October, is a Liverpool-born clinical researcher and Director of Partnerships and Programmes at the University of Liverpool. She has extensive experience in clinical research and trials and a strong track record in partnership development and delivery. She said: “Liverpool Health Partners plays a vital role in bringing our region’s strengths together. I’m looking forward to shaping the next stage of its journey, strengthening partnerships that drive research, innovation and better outcomes for our communities.”

Dr Séamus O’Neill announced he would be stepping down as Managing Director in August, after successfully leading the partnership as it reset its strategy and focus as an Academic Health Science System, championing work on a culture of collaboration and convening and advocating for life sciences across the city.

Outgoing MD, Dr Séamus O’Neill, said, “Christine is a terrific appointment to lead LHP in its next phase. She has worked closely with us over recent years and fully understands both the work we are doing and the approach that is serving us well in building the partnership and delivering impact. I am confident that the partnership will go from strength to strength under her leadership”.

LHP Board Chair and Vice Chancellor of University of Liverpool, Professor Tim Jones, added: “On behalf of the Board, I welcome Christine to the team. Christine brings a wealth of experience of both the academic and clinical environments. It is an exciting time for the Partnership and Christine’s skills and experience as a convenor and advocate for Life Sciences in the city region are exactly what we need.”
