Launched in September 2018, its mission is supporting the citizens of Cheshire & Merseyside to live healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. This Centre is linked to the cardiovascular disease priority.

Liverpool Health Partners are working alongside Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital, Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Liverpool to address the regional heart related health needs through the Liverpool Centre for Cardiovascular science.

Through this partnership the centre’s objectives are to:

  • Build relationships with stakeholder institutions.
  • Prioritise the development of applied research capable of rapid translation into clinical practise, this will in turn benefit the patients and the public.
  • Develop a cadre of research leaders and teams from all relevant disciplines.
  • Collaborate across the full spectrum of cardiovascular health and disease and associated disciplines with high co-dependency.
  • Harness the power of digital technology to track progress in achieving our objectives and identify new research opportunities.

The Director of the centre is Professor Gregory Lip.
