Liverpool Health Partners joins charter partnership to transform regional health

A new Healthcare Charter Partnership across the Liverpool City Region has been launched.

Liverpool Health Partners were delighted to join a new Healthcare Charter Partnership aimed at improving health and prosperity across the Liverpool City Region at a signing ceremony earlier this week.

The University of Liverpool and Roche Diagnostics Limited have launched a new Healthcare Charter Partnership aimed at improving health and prosperity across the Liverpool City Region.

This collaborative initiative unites NHS Trusts, local government, industry, and the public in a shared commitment to tackle the region’s most pressing health challenges. By fostering cross-sector partnerships, the Charter seeks to deliver meaningful, long-term change for communities throughout the region.

The Charter focuses on improving health throughout Liverpool City Region and beyond, where residents face significant challenges such as cardiovascular disease, multimorbidity, and health inequalities driven by socioeconomic factors. Partners will collaborate on innovative research and solutions in areas including biomarker development, population health, digital health technologies, and laboratory automation.

Seamus O’Neill, Managing Director at Liverpool Health Partners, attended the event on Monday evening alongside businesses, public sector bodies, charities and other stakeholders from across the region.

He said: “Liverpool Health Partners were delighted to sign the Charter and be part of an initiative across the city region with such an important industry partner.

The concepts within the Charter to combine breadth of opportunity and commitment to delivery are ones we recognise and support every day. Each of the organisations involved will play important roles in amplifying the excellence of our NHS and University partners and ensure that we deliver a transformative programme with Roche.”

Professor Louise Kenny, Executive Pro Vice Chancellor of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, University of Liverpool, was also in attendance and said:

“By bringing together a powerful network of stakeholders, we are strengthening our collective ability to address some of the most pressing challenges in healthcare. Our combined strengths create a platform that accelerates life-saving research, fosters groundbreaking innovation, and delivers real-world solutions to urgent health concerns in our local communities.”

Geoff Twist, General Manager of Roche Diagnostics UK & Ireland said: “Through our partnership with the University of Liverpool, we are already making significant strides, with advanced diagnostics, to improve the lives of people in the region. However, this mission requires the collective effort and expertise of many more organisations. By collaborating within an ecosystem that includes the NHS, public health bodies, local authorities, the private sector, and patient advocacy groups, we can drive further meaningful change and achieve more, faster, together.”
