Liverpool Health Partners take to the skies for Europe’s biggest healthcare innovation event

Research and Innovation colleagues will attend HLTH Europe in Amsterdam

Research and Innovation colleagues across Liverpool Health Partner member organisations will be taking to the skies next week to attend HLTH Europe – the continent’s number one healthcare innovation event.

Focussed on health innovation and transformation, HLTH Europe is a platform for industry leaders and innovators to showcase their cutting-edge solutions and to collaborate on shaping the future of healthcare, bringing together a dynamic community of leaders in health, business, innovation, science, public service and philanthropy.

The four-day event, which takes place at the RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre in the Netherlands from 16-19 June, will provide an opportunity for global expertise to meet local insight to address Europe’s unique healthcare challenges and opportunities.

As part of ‘Team Liverpool’, delegates from Liverpool Health Partners (LHP), NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHLG), The Walton Centre, The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre (CCC), University of Liverpool (UoL), and Liverpool John Moore’s University (LJMU), will meet with health innovators from across the globe, promoting the pioneering work being done across the Liverpool region, offering a fantastic opportunity for networking and collaboration.

Seamus O’Neill, Managing Director at Liverpool Health Partners, attended the event when it was first brought to Europe from the US in 2024, and instantly knew Liverpool needed a presence in 2025.

He said: “As part of our remit for projecting the capabilities and building international connections for LHP and our members, I am delighted to be taking a 20-strong team out to Amsterdam to raise the profile of the innovation excellence and opportunity that exists within the LCR system, as well as identify potential research and innovation partners from across the globe.

“HLTH Europe empowers individuals within the health ecosystem to solve complex challenges, foster innovation and catalyse change for good and for all, and will provide a fantastic opportunity to accelerate and transform health across the region.”

Vinoth Sankar, Consultant Physician and Intensivist and Innovation Clinical Director for UHLG and Innovation Clinical Lead for the Cheshire and Mersey Cancer Alliance, also attended the 2024 event and has this year been nominated as a HLTH Ambassador. With this role, LHP have been given a designated stand at the Provider Zone during the event – enabling our members with further opportunities to network and promote the innovative work we are doing.

Vinoth said: “HLTH Amsterdam 2024 was an incredible opportunity to engage with global healthcare leaders, exchange ideas, and learn how other systems implement complex interventions. The event sparked meaningful conversations, and the social gatherings amplified networking and collaboration potential.

“I’m also pleased to be nominated as an HLTH Ambassador this year. As part of this role—and in collaboration with LHP—we’re assembling a Liverpool delegation to spotlight our innovation champions. The goal is to give them the exposure I had last year and turn high-value networking into tangible contracts and commercial partnerships for the region.”

LHP are partnering with the Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA) for the event, who are taking a lead on organising the Liverpool contingent, giving access to further networking opportunities, providing support, and adding to a strong Northern UK presence to showcase what research and innovation is on offer.

Dr Ben Martyn, Executive Lead for Investment and International Partnerships at the Northern Health Science Alliance, said: “We are proud to be partnering with Liverpool Health Partners at HLTH Europe as part of a dynamic northern delegation showcasing the strength and potential of health innovation across our regions. This is a unique opportunity to connect with global leaders, explore transformative partnerships, and highlight the crucial work happening across the North of England. We are committed to driving forward research and innovation that speaks to the unique challenges and opportunities within our regions, and LHP is an ideal organisation to take that journey with.

“By working in partnership, we can amplify the voice of the North on the international stage and help shape a more equitable, innovative future for health and care.”
